The su misura process is something apart from fast fashion consumption patterns. In our SU MISURA series we present some of our clients thoughts on this process and how it has affected their attitude towards clothing.
Oliver is a friend of ours since way back and he has been visiting the atelier regularly since we opened up our first space at Engelbrektsgatan 29 in Stockholm. One rarely sees Oliver in a garment that has not been customized via su misura or bespoke. But what’s so special about the customization process? Why not just be satisfied with regular ready-to-wear?
“To me, the main advantage with su misura is that you, during this process, get more acquainted with your body – learning what proportions feels good and how you want to present yourself.” Oliver says. He argues that very few people fit perfectly into graded sizes off the rack and that he realized this for himself when starting doing su misura.
“Also, I think you get more conscious with what you are buying. Handicraft is key within these pieces and that makes them pricey. Once you accept this type of production process you realize that you have to slow down a little bit. Not buying on instinct, but thinking it through”, he argues. “In the end I always consider qualitative stuff being worth those extra pennies”.
