– a courteous word (noun) in Farsi meaning uncle or wise old man.
The Amo look is based on our imaginary friend Davood. In the early seventies, Davood was notorious for roaming the streets of Tehran in his Paykan car. He visited coffee shops where he had tea with his friends and was often seen outside the fencing club he attended several times a week.
Davood was a man who liked dressing smart, although, comfort for him was always put first. He enjoyed a subtle monochrome look and he put his focus on materials and shape. Davood was often seen wearing layers of draped knitwear in a, at the time, unconventional way.
The Amo Collection is trying to capture the essence of Davood’s citified casual look. Atelier Saman Amel aims to revitalize the Amo look by putting it in a contemporary context.
The Amo Collection is built up by four different styles that come in four colour ways. The collection is produced in Italy and comes in two different qualities: lambswool from Zegna and cashmere from Loro Piana. The collection will be sold online and in the atelier at Kommendörsgatan 21 in Stockholm. The products are produced when an order is put and delivery time is two to three weeks.
Pricing for sweaters in Zegna lambswool is 2200SEK and for Loro Piana cashmere 4500SEK.
